El contexto musical de California y Los Ángeles, ofreció a algunas mujeres espacio para liderar bandas que actuaron en festivales emblemáticos de los años 60. Monterey y Human Be In en 1967 y Woodstock en 1969.  Nancy Nevins de Sweetwater, Grace Slick de Jefferson Airplane, Patti Santos de It’s A Beatiful Day. En esos escenarios también actuaron Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Steve Miller Band y algunos artistas que pasaron a formar parte del club de los 27.
